Ertuğrul Ghazi statue taken down in Turkey

Looks like Ertuğrul fans are in for some shocking news.

A monument to Ertuğrul Ghazi in Turkey was recently dismantled. The statue of the historical hero did not resemble Ertuğrul Ghazi, but rather Engin Altan Düzyatan, the actor who played the historical character from the series Resurrection Ertuğrul broadcast on the Turkish public channel.

However, both city dwellers and social media users have said that the bust by the name of Ertuğrul Ghazi is seen at first glance as actor Düzyatan.

The statue was removed by municipal officials and an administrative investigation was opened against the officials as the debate heated up.

"We were concerned that the Ertuğrul Gazi bust resembles Engin Altan Düzyatan, the lead actor in the series Ertuğrul Resurrection and on the same day that the bust in question was removed," the municipality said in a statement. release

“A necessary investigation has been opened into those responsible for the negligence. We thank everyone for the sensitivity they have shown, ”added the press release.

Previously, the statue of actor Düzyatan was built in place of Ertuğrul Gazi in the northwest province of Bilecik.

Ertuğrul Ghazi led a small band of warriors under the leadership of Anatolian Sultan Seljuk in the mid-13th century. With his death in 1280, the leadership of his small tribe passed to his son Osman, who is known to have established the Ottoman state in 1299.

Ertuğrul Gazi's life has attracted considerable interest in recent years due to the popularity of the Diriliş Ertuğrul television program.

The Turkish television series has taken over many countries, including Pakistan recently.

According to Pakistan State Television Television (PTV), 133 million people have watched the drama so far from April 25 to May 14. Also, his episodes tend to air daily on YouTube in Pakistan.
